Executive Chef – Sabor Divino
Chef Adelino Oliveira was born in Portugal, and raised in Edmonton. At the age of 14, he started working as a busboy—beginning his life-long passion for restaurants.
In 1993, Oliveira returned to Portugal, where he owned a small coastal restaurant that served a daily menu of market-fresh ingredients. With no formal training, and using only his experience as a professional server, he crafted his desire to learn more about the food he was serving into a skilled, and respected career as a chef.
An economic downturn in Europe brought Oliveira back in 2007—in 2009, after settling back into Edmonton, he opened Sabor Divino with childhood friend, Christian Mena.
Strongly influenced by his time on the Portuguese coast bordering Spain, and his passion for honest, traditional flavours—things like olive oil, onions, garlic—he created Sabor’s menu to showcase simple, but memorable meals with an Iberian/Mediterranean focus.
